Rob Rosen was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1966. He spent his childhood in the suburbs of New Jersey, his teen years in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and much of his early adulthood in Atlanta, Georgia, where he graduated from Emory University with a B.S. in Biology and then worked for eight years as a Clinical Biochemist. When he turned thirty, he packed it all in, sold his car, broke his lease, gave up his career and followed his dreams to San Francisco, where he is now an Office Guru. So much for that expensive education. Rob Rosen’s first novel, "Sparkle: The Queerest Book You'll Ever Love", was published in 2001 to critical acclaim, and won the Stonewall Society Whodunit Award for Mystery. His short stories appear regularly on more than three-dozen literary sites worldwide, and have been published in the literary anthologies Mentsh: On Being Jewish and Queer (Alyson, 2004), I Do/I Don't: Queers on Marriage (Suspect Thoughts Press, 2004), Travel a Time Historic (Cyber Pulp, 2005), Short Attention Span Mysteries (Kerlak Publishing, 2005), and BROTHERHOOD: Chronicles of Gay Life in the College Fraternity (Alyson, 2005). His work has also been featured in numerous magazines. Rob regularly updates his website, www.therobrosen.com, with recent news and all of his published short stories. His website has garnered 28 web awards since its inception. Rob was also the winner of the Muse Apprentice Guild's annual international Chapbook Competition and will have a collection of his short stories published in the spring of 2005. Rob has been an avid reader since he first learned to read, finishing 1-2 books per week. When he finally got his first computer, he immediately started writing, figuring he could at least do as good as what he saw on the market. His first novel, “Sparkle: The Queerest Book You'll Ever Love” was published in 2001, and he has been writing diligently ever since. Rob’s three favorite writers TOM ROBBINS GORE VIDAL JOHN IRVING Rob on writing, "reading is a highly subjective pastime. Truly, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, so I won’t even begin to say what I believe makes a great writer. However, I can say that having a unique voice is key for sustaining a writing career, and that is what I strive for." To date, Rob’s short stories have appeared on forty literary sites, worldwide.
